“It is a fun way for a kid to get their energy out. But I don't think the pace of learning is that great here. My kid loves going, and wants to go back next session, but I don't think he's becoming a better gymnast. I guess I shouldn't care as long as he's having fun. He's got no interest in a more serious program / org though (like Naperville Gymnastics Club for example). So we'll probably be back again in the Fall. It can be chaotic with a bunch of different age groups on the equipment at the same time...like 40 kids in ~3 age groups and a handful of teachers. Have hardly seen the same coaches there season-to-season. Not a huge deal though as the staff do seem to be invested in making sure the kids have a good time. Also, not a great parental spectator experience...limited seating in the viewing area (and uncomfortable), and having to spend an hr at Ft. Hill when crowded is not the best. ”
“The classes through the park district are good for keeping kids active and having something to do but they are not necessarily going to teach gymnastics skills. The turnover in the staff is noticeable- I’m not sure if there is a reason other than the coaches seem to be very young and maybe they are moving on to other things? Lack of consistency in the coaches was a point of anxiety for one of my kiddos. ”
